Tasks
The detailed scope of the Office's tasks includes:
- transforming administrative datasets into statistical datasets;
- data collection, including from public administration information systems, as well as the compilation, processing, and analysis of statistical data;
- coordinating the preparation of schedules for acquiring data from external information systems;
- coordinating the acquisition of administrative datasets from distributed information systems via the TransGUS system;
- conducting work arising from the public statistics research programme and the methodological work plan;
- conducting and carrying out censuses and other large-scale surveys within the Łódź Voivodeship;
- participation in the development of the methodology for statistical surveys concerning the Łódź Voivodeship;
- identifying and analyzing the demand for statistical information and analyses broken down by territory within the Łódź Voivodeship, as well as designing methods and forms for meeting that demand;
- making available and disseminating statistical output;
- conducting research and analyses relevant to the specific characteristics of the voivodeship, including in cooperation with research and scientific institutions;
- providing information support to local government units and to advisory and expert bodies cooperating with local government;
- conducting activities aimed at popularizing and promoting statistics and disseminating knowledge about statistics, including statistical education within the Łódź Voivodeship;
- participation in carrying out work for the purposes of regional statistical compilations;
- presenting statistical information concerning the Łódź Voivodeship to government administration bodies, local government units, and other recipients;
- maintaining the National Official Business Register (REGON) regarding legal entities, organizational units without legal personality, and natural persons conducting business activity, as well as making data from the REGON register available;
- managing the operations and providing access to data from the National Official Register of the Territorial Division of the Country (TERYT) within the Łódź Voivodeship, specifically regarding the system of statistical regions and census enumeration areas, as well as the address identification system for streets, properties, buildings, and dwellings (including the street directory);
- maintaining spatial address databases for the Łódź Voivodeship to generate spatial datasets using specialized GIS software, based on data from the National Official Register of the Territorial Division of the Country (TERYT) and statistical registers;
- cooperation with government administration bodies and local government authorities within the province that maintain official registers and public administration information systems, regarding the transmission of source information for updating the registers and records maintained for survey purposes;
- conducting joint surveys with government or local government administration bodies, included in the public statistics survey programme at their request;
- administration of the public statistics IT infrastructure located within the Łódź Voivodeship.
