Tasks

The Center for Living Conditions and Survey Research carries out the following tasks:

  1. nationwide activities carried out for the benefit of public statistics as a whole at every stage of work concerning the population's living conditions;
  2. nationwide activities carried out for the benefit of public statistics as a whole regarding the coordination of the uniform application of classifications of reasons for non-participation in social surveys;


In particular, the tasks of the Centre for Living Conditions and Survey Research include:

  1. acting as the lead entity for nationwide operations regarding the organization, methodology, programming, collection, and editing of data for the Household Condition Survey (KGD), including the monthly transmission of data to the *Statistical Bulletin* and the provision of data in response to specific requests (Chancellery of the Prime Minister – KPRM; National Bank of Poland – NBP),
  2. participation in the organization and conduct of the European Survey on Living Conditions,
  3. participation in the implementation of tasks in the area of ​​​​the living conditions of the population,
  4. development, maintenance, and updating of a domain-specific knowledge base on population living conditions;
  5. coordinating work related to the conduct of surveys included in the statistical survey programme of official statistics within the Łódź Voivodeship;
  6. participation in the implementation of projects co-financed by European funds;
    conducting test and pilot studies.


The Centre comprises two units:

  1. Reserach and Data Editing Unit
  2. Methodology and Training Unit


The tasks of the Reserach and Data Editing Unit include, in particular:

  • conducting household surveys, surveys of retail prices for consumer and non-consumer goods and services, surveys of marketplace prices for key agricultural products, and agricultural surveys;
  • organizing work and establishing the organizational conditions necessary for the work of statistical interviewers and experts;
  • providing substantive supervision over activities related to the conduct of surveys within the Office’s branches;


The tasks of the Methodology and Training Unit include, in particular:

  • carrying out work to optimize the functioning of the network of statistical interviewers;
  • collaborating with relevant departments of Statistics Poland (GUS) on tasks such as: conducting conceptual work on the methodology of statistical surveys regarding population living conditions, as well as initiating and preparing methodological solutions; developing programs and conducting training for the nationwide network of statistical interviewers and coordinators;
  • standardizing the reasons for survey non-response in social surveys and coordinating the uniform application of these standards nationwide.
