Tasks

The Centre for Cultural Statistics was established by the President of the Statistics Poland within the organisational structure of the Statistical Office in Kraków on 1 January 1999 to conduct nationwide research in the field of culture statistics.

The employees of the Centre for Cultural Statistics prepare and carry out statistical surveys on the activities of artistic and entertainment entities, museums and institutions related to museums, libraries, cinemas, exhibition activities, film production, centres of culture, cultural centres and establishments, clubs and community centres, mass events, the market of works of art and antiques, and activities related to protection and care of monuments at the municipal level, as well as on finances of cultural institution. The Centre also conducts studies on cultural and creative industries and the culture satellite account.



 

The tasks of the Centre for Cultural Statistics include:

- providing statistical data on the area of culture to interested entities;

- participating in the development of methodology and the organisation of statistical surveys and studies in the field of cultural statistics;

- cooperating actively with the scientific community, to advance and expand statistical research on culture;

- providing substantive supervision and coordination of nationwide culture statistics research;

- developing publications and statistical analyses, and other forms of presenting the resulting information on culture;

- identifying the need for statistical data in the area of culture;

- participating in the development of a programme of statistical surveys of official statistics in the area of cultural statistics;

- cooperating with domestic and international institutions involved in cultural statistics;

- promoting cultural statistics.
