We hosted a delegation from the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan (TajStat). The study visit, organized on 19–21 May 2026, was dedicated to the exchange of experiences in the organization and functioning of official statistics, as well as the development of modern methods for data management and statistical processes.

Delegation was headed by Mr. Aso Nurullo, Deputy Chairman of TajStat. The meetings were attended by representatives of the management of the Statistics Poland (GUS) and experts responsible, among others, for economic statistics, statistical registers, finance, information technologies, and strategic planning. The meeting was opened by Ms. Dominika Rogalińska, Vice-President of Statistics Poland, and Ms. Olga Świerkot-Strużewska, Director of International Cooperation Department. Vice-President emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the exchange of experience between national statistical offices, noting that official statistics constitute a common language supporting decision-making processes for public administration and society.

We discussed the organisation of the Polish system of official statistics, financial management and budgeting, the functioning of regional statistical offices, the use of administrative registers, quality management in accordance with the European Statistics Code of Practice, human resources policy, and staff skills development. We also discussed issues related to data integration, the dissemination of statistical information, IT system security, process automation, and the use of data science and machine learning methods in public statistics. The meetings were attended by representatives of Statistics Poland’s departments and statistical offices, who presented experiences and good practices developed within the Polish official statistics system. The TajStat delegation, meanwhile, presented the solutions used in Tajikistan and the challenges facing public statistics there.

The study visit was a key element in the development of cooperation between Statistics Poland and TajStat, creating a space for further exchange of experiences and the implementation of joint activities in the field of public statistics. The visit was carried out with the support of the World Bank.
