Statistics Poland and IOM Agreement: Cooperation in Migration Statistics, Research and Analysis

On 17 June 2026, Marek Cierpiał-Wolan, President of Statistics Poland and Lívia Styp-Rekowska, Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Poland, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation in the field of migration statistics and research. It covers, among other areas, the exchange of research findings and analytical results, the development of migration research methodologies, support for data collection activities, the preparation of joint publications, and the organization of conferences, seminars and workshops.

Joint activities undertaken by Statistics Poland and IOM will contribute to a better understanding of migration processes and support the development of modern research and analytical tools. Cooperation between the two institutions will help provide reliable data and analyses to support public policies, scientific research and informed public debate on migration-related issues.

IOM is an organization within the United Nations system. It works to promote safe, orderly and regular migration and conducts research and analysis on migration processes. In situations involving refugee crises, such as the one caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, it also operates as a professional intergovernmental humanitarian organization.
