10th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS X) in Kraków
The 10th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS X) was held in Kraków on July 8–10, 2026. The conference brought together representatives of national statistical offices, public administration, international organizations, the academic community, and the business sector from many countries, creating a space for the exchange of experiences and discussion on the future of agricultural statistics.
The conference program included plenary sessions, panel discussions, and workshops focused on the most important challenges and future directions in agricultural statistics. Participants debated the use of new data sources, artificial intelligence, satellite data, statistical modeling methods, and administrative sources in the process of collecting information on agriculture. Particular attention was paid to solutions that improve data quality while reducing the burden on respondents.
One of the highlights of the first day was the session “Back to the Roots: Statistics and the Sciences of Agriculture,” during which participants discussed the importance of the classical methodological foundations of statistics in the context of the dynamic development of new analytical technologies and artificial intelligence.
Another key element of the program was the session “SMART Ways to Collect Data for Agricultural Statistics,” dedicated to modern data collection methods
Experts presented solutions that utilize Earth observation, robotics, automation, statistical modeling, and the integration of administrative data and other non-statistical sources. Discussions focused on ways to increase the efficiency of official statistics while maintaining the high quality of the information produced.
The 10th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation in the development of official statistics and the exchange of knowledge and experience. The conclusions drawn from the discussions and the solutions presented will make a significant contribution to the further improvement of methods for collecting and processing data that support food security, sustainable development, and public policy-making.
